WHO WE ARE

Our God given Mission and Core Values – Building God’s Kingdom as a Family

At the birth of our church, God gave us the name Kingdom Community Church, which encapsulates the mission He has for us.

KINGDOM
The Kingdom of God is central to Jesus’s preaching. He came to restore the Kingdom or reign of God on earth. At the onset of His public ministry, He inaugurated the establishment of the Kingdom of God when He proclaimed in Luke 4:18-19: “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”

God’s plan is to set us free from sin, restore our identity as His children, redeem us as His subjects and empower us to establish His Kingdom on earth by bringing Kingdom values in every realm of society.

We have identified 4 ways we can do this:

1) Marketplace Impact - We are to live out Kingdom values and bring about Kingdom culture in our places of work and spheres of influence, pointing people to a better Kingdom and our Lord Jesus Christ (Matt 5:13-16). We do this by affirming the calling of our people in the marketplace and equipping them with life skills and biblical wisdom that are relevant to their calling in the marketplace.

2) Empowering the Poor - God has a positive bias towards the poor and needy. So must we. Every person is created in the image of God and has intrinsic worth and capacity to reach their God given potential. Hence, we seek to come alongside the poor and needy to empower them to reach that.

3) Building Strong Families - Families are the foundational blocks in society. Faith and Kingdom values are first and foremost to be developed in the homes. Strong families, built on Kingdom values, will be the bedrock for building a righteous, prosperous, and God-fearing society.

4) Planting Churches - The local church is a redemptive community that God has called out in order to teach, equip, empower and send forth to bring His gospel of the Kingdom to every nation. We seek to plant local churches in nations God brings us to.With this in mind, our discipleship process seeks to develop Kingdom-minded disciples who embody biblical kingdom values wherever they are planted by God. This process entails the following emphases:Believe in JesusBe set freeBelong to familyBe grounded in the WordBe equipped and empoweredThe nation of Israel is the prototype and prophetic clock of God’s Kingdom. That is why we pay careful attention to what God is doing in and through Israel.

COMMUNITY
We are saved not just to believe but also to belong to a redemptive community, a spiritual family called the church. It is in authentic community that we sharpen one another, learn to love one another (John 13:34), hold each other accountable and encourage one another to live out Kingdom values and our calling. We seek to honor one another, making every effort to maintain unity by putting relationship before function. Our conviction is that authentic community is the new wineskin from which every other work flows. As an intergenerational family, our older adults seek to be spiritual fathers and mothers to the younger generations.

OUR AFFILIATIONS
Kingdom Community Church is a member of the National Council of Churches of Singapore.

ABOUT BFOC
Kingdom Community Church is part of the extended family in the Bartley Family of Churches (BFOC). BFOC comprises four churches: Bartley Christian ChurchBrighton Community ChurchRiverLife Churchand Kingdom Community Church .Kingdom Community Church is self-governing like a nuclear family. Our leaders and staff intentionally build authentic and familial relationships with BFOC leaders and staff. This way, our members get modelling on how spiritual parents walk together. Our young have the added assurance of being part of a larger extended family.Kingdom Community Church is interdependent in that we can seek help and counsel from our extended family and are blessed with prayer covering. We draw encouragement from one another as well the voluntary sharing of resources.

WHO IS BFOC?
We are more than an affiliation to a shared history and heritage. It is ‘Bartley’ family of churches because Bartley Christian Church was the genesis of these churches. Bartley Christian Church planted RiverLife Church. Brighton Community Church came out from Bartley, whilst Kingdom Community Church originated from RiverLife Church.

We are an extended family of churches espousing the authentic, relational qualities of a Christ-centered, loving family. We seek to grow deeper and stronger as BFOC leaders intentionally build familial relationships with one another.

We draw strength in this interdependent family. We are blessed with the prayer covering of an extended family. We can seek help from trusted family in the collective counsel of other senior leaders and we can enjoy the voluntary sharing of resources.

Through BFOC, we demonstrate to church members and our next generation the way to lovingly walk together beyond our respective congregations in Bartley Christian Church, Brighton Community Church, RiverLife Church and Kingdom Community Church.
